Importance of being grateful

Anyukám és családom,

My companion and I have learned the importance of being grateful this transfer. We have been so focused on meeting our goals that we have been asking a lot and forgetting to give thanks to God for the things he has already given us. We started giving lots of prayers of thanks and that is why I think we experienced the following miracle.

We have been tracting in a lot of ten stories lately because we felt it was where we needed to be. As we have been tracting we felt a certain is where we needed to be. We have been tracting these for about 3 weeks now, and we hadn't gotten anything, but we stayed positive, and gave thanks for what we did get and experience. Last Thursday we were in a ten story and it was not the best. We got rejected a lot, we found out that missionaries had just barely been there, so things were looking like we should just come back another day. Amidst all of this we decided to keep going. The 2nd to last door we knocked on a lady answered the door. We asked some questions, and we had a nice personable 10 minute conversation. We then asked if we came back. She said the very next morning. Weird. So we did, and we just started with talking about who we are and who she is. We got into gospel discussion and this is what she told us.

"My life is perfect. I have everything I have ever wanted. I have cars, a perfect car, a perfect husband, and I couldn't be happier, but I am troubled. Although I have all these things I still don't understand the purpose of life, so for the last two days I have been praying to God to know what is my purpose, then you two came. I feel like you are the answer to my prayers."

Sick right! I have only heard these stories in Mormon myths, or other uplifting talks, that I have never really experienced, or really believed, but right before my eyes it happened. We are going to be meeting her, and her husband, and I may have met my last goal of my mission, which was to find a family. I love being a missionary.

This last week we also had our very first zone training. We have about 30 people in our zone who we trained last week. According to the remarks it went really well. At first we had a formal training, of teaching, questions, comments, and what not. After that we had a discussion time where we brought some questions that we discussed as a group and we found solutions, and then for the role play we had a game about how to teach with simplicity and power. It is interesting to be a leader, you get all sorts of people. We are all equals, and we should treat everyone, even ourselves as equals. We do not need the best story, numbers, or characteristics to be recognized as a good man or woman. Every person as special traits and talents God has given them that is there to help him or her fulfill her responsibilities here on earth. Sometimes these are noticeable and we get praise from others, but most of the time they are not, and we don't get the praise we feel we deserve. Don't worry about it. God is giving you the praise. He is proud of us for the work, or effort we do. Don't please masses to give up your praise from God. The masses dwindle away as dust, but God will forever be there.

Decker elder

I have an interesting happenstance. This last Saturday we had Sport nap (sport day). We played handball for part of the hour. We had to stop because of Elder Carter. Elder Carter is one of the other elders that serve here. He is way cool, and one of my favorite people. Why? He is super chill, and a good missionary, but he also is a football lineman. He is a big boy. He is the man I had on my shoulders in that picture. As we played handball he threw the ball and his shoulder dislocated! Turns out he has the exact same problem I had with my shoulder, only he didn't get surgery. I will admit it, I got excited when he dislocated it. I love playing doctor :) So I went over there and felt where the bone was. After determining where it was I relaxed the should and very gently put it back in. Success! I loved doing it.
