Anyukám és családom,
My week was once again tiring. I am beat, but happy. We had
a number of miracles. For instance we called up a former investigator and he actually answered his phone. Not only did he set up a time to
meet, but he is also going to bring friends. Referrals! We were happy about
it.
Other cool thing is our young member. Life has been pretty hard for
her. All her friends have been leaving on missions (sound familiar) she has
been having family difficulties, and she isn't loving school. It is definitely
one of those times in High School when you feel alone, and you have no way out
(also found familiar). This last week we had a really special program with her.
We were very sincere, and tried to show our love the best. We really wanted her
to trust God through everything and help her find his love, because that is the
most important thing. We succeeded. I have never seen her so happy in a while. I
love how the gospel works, and when we pray for guidance, we receive just that.
We have also been working with her family. I love her family. They are kind,
generous and a lot of fun, they just haven't really wanted to investigate, but
we have been patient, and been doing our best to be examples and help them see
we are not weird, just happy... :) Her sister is now really interested and
we have already met with her a few times. Such a joy.
While we were tabling last week we encountered Korihor.
Seriously. He claimed to know the Bible, but said there is no Christ. Said he
believed in God, but there is no church or power. He said men created God. We
were astounded. He sat there and yelled at us for 40 minutes, and no matter
what we said nothing changed, so we literally sat for 5 minutes and didn't look
at him. During the five minutes he still tried to debate, we just ignored.
Finally he left after some unkind words. This has happened many times on my
mission and it used to bother me. I was proud that this last week it made no
difference to me. I know the truth, and I won't be swayed but foolish doctrine,
and unfaithful people.
The fun thing we did last week was Fiatal est. We finally
decided we should plan it (because no one else does) so we came up with a few
minute to win it games. It was actually a pretty good success. We all had a
lot of fun, we looked dumb, but laughed a lot.
The other cool thing is we got to meet a WNBA player. She is
here on the off season to play for the team here. We went to her game for a few
minutes with a potential investigator and afterward we talked. She was way cool. There is another American on the team and they
both asked we could get drinks... or maybe water. People really have no idea
who Mormons are :) (We didn't get drinks or water). . . .
We
should be grateful that we are in the only truth that gives us a way out from
all this junk in the world. Through this church we are made free through
Christ's Atonement. I am grateful for this, because now I can say life is
beautiful and life is worth it.
